Covid-19 Information

Current Information regarding this year's Aachen Colloquium

Update April 28th, 2022

Currently, the event industry still is effected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the fast changing regulations. Therefore, we would like to provide you with information on the realization of this year’s Aachen Colloquium Sustainable Mobility.

We are again planning a face-to-face event at the Eurogress Aachen. Of course, we prepared a hygiene concept and follow the latest regulations to ensure a safe visit to the event. The entire presentation program, the technical exhibition and the banquet will be part of the event.

In addition, we are offering online participation again, so that participants who are affected by possible travel restrictions can also attend the Aachen Colloquium. For the online event, participants will receive access to an online platform on which the lectures will be streamed live. During the lectures and the following discussion round, questions can be asked via chat. Participants can also visit the exhibitors' pages and get in touch with them. A chat tool offers the opportunity to exchange information and network with all participants on site and online.

The registration for participation in Aachen and online is available here.

Hyundai KONA Elektro

JB CarConcept

As a battery-powered compact SUV, the Hyundai KONA Elektro combines more environmentally friendly dynamics with enormous range and an exemplary level of active safety - at a particularly low price. Thanks to the powerful torque of 395 Nm, the 150 kW version takes you from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds - and with significantly lower driving emissions than conventionally powered vehicles! The extremely bright head-up display slides into your field of vision at the touch of a button. Important information such as your speed or the instructions of the safety assistants are clearly visible. The Hyundai KONA Elektro relies on high-tech for your protection:
The rear cross-traffic warning system (RCTA) warns you, for example, of vehicles or pedestrians appearing to the side when you park your car backwards. It takes less than an hour to charge your KONA Elektro up to 80 percent at a fast charging station. After a complete charging cycle, you can drive up to 449 km without recharging.
Combined power consumption: 15.4 kWh/100km

Jaguar I‑PACE

JB CarConcept

The I-PACE is driven by two permanently energised synchronous motors. In terms of drive typology, they are similar to the electric motors used in the I-Type Formula E racing car. The drive train of the I-PACE provides an output of 294 kW and an immediately usable torque of 696 Nm. Thanks to four-wheel drive and integrated traction control, the I-PACE accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. The I-PACE's 90 kWh battery is designed for long life and supports extended periods of maximum power consumption. The battery has been installed in the lower part of the vehicle, which has allowed a low center of gravity. This naturally enhances driving dynamics and ensures a high level of driving pleasure. The I-PACE is not dependent on a conventional gearbox. Rather, the focus is on simplicity. Acceleration without interruption of tractive power is possible without any gear change - over the entire speed range from 0 - 12,000 rpm.

Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVBB) brakes the inner front and rear wheels independently and in a controlled manner to prevent the vehicle from slipping. The driver thus benefits from the agility and greater safety typical of sports cars. In most situations, the rear wheel inside the corner is braked more strongly as this improves cornering stability. The inner front wheel, on the other hand, brakes to improve performance and smoothness.

The I-PACE's highly efficient heat pump uses the heat from the surrounding air and the vehicle's electronic components. The heat is then transferred to the passenger compartment via the heating and ventilation system. In this way, less energy is required from the vehicle battery and the range is maximised.

Power consumption (combined): 24.8-22 kWh/100 km

Jeep Renegade

2019 Jeep Renegade 1
GKN Automotive

GKN has built a new, pure electric demonstrator vehicle that shows how the company’s torque-vectoring eTwinster 2-speed technology can deliver enhanced driving dynamics. This new eTwinster 2-speed Electric demonstrator incorporates a two-speed torque vectoring GKN eDrive system with a seamless ‘Seamless shift’ transmission concept. With GKN own battery management on board, the demonstrator shows another level to GKN’s integration capabilities for electric vehicles. From organising the cell and battery management to controlling the vehicle’s torque, every aspect of the electric vehicle’s driveline is GKN-controlled. ‘GTD19’ showcases GKN eDrive technologies, and its ability to provide complete drivelines and to manage their integration into customer vehicles.

The GTD19, is built on the chassis of a B-segment Jeep Renegade SUV. With the engine bay cleared and the company’s own eTwinster 2-speed eDrive integrated in its place, the GTD19 demonstrates how effective torque vectoring on the front axle can be – and how much is possible with the right software and controls expertise and the next generation of GKN technology. As electric drivelines progress from simple longitudinal acceleration to more lateral control, GKN ePowertrain’s torque vectoring technology delivers the enhanced dynamics drivers need and want. The addition of a two-speed transmission with seamless shifts not only extends the vehicle’s pure electric range, it also provides a greater torque range and more immediate acceleration, with a higher top speed.

Jaguar Land Rover XE

Stratmann Mahle

FEV GmbH

In the Jaguar Land Rover XE, FEV demonstrates a self-adapting engine control for synthetic fuels based on renewable energy. The engine control is based on digital combustion rate shaping. An intelligent control algorithm identifies the combustion properties of E-fuels while driving and adapts the actuators to access the full potential of these fuels. Power-to-Liquid based on the Fischer Tropsch synthesis is a promising way forward for synthetic fuels, while Digital Combustion Rate Shaping (DiCoRS) is a promising control approach to compensate varying fuel properties. The combustion process is directly calibrated in terms of an optimal cylinder pressure profile. The CRS controller automatically calculates the complete fuel injection profile. Once implemented this control system can take maximum advantage of any fuel or fuel blend in the future.

Mercedes EQC

JB CarConcept

With an amazing range, comprehensive charging infrastructure and the highest level of safety, the EQC gives us a fascinating new feeling of electric driving. Up to 471 km pure electric range (NEDC). 40 minutes charging time at fast charging stations (minimum charging time at public DC charging station with supply voltage 400 Volt, current 300 A from 10 to 80%). Values refer to 23 degrees Celsius battery start and ambient temperature with new battery excluding additional auxiliary consumers such as seat heating, displays, air conditioning) 5.1 s from 0-100 km/h, 408 PS, 180 km/h top speed (limited) The new Mercedes-Benz EQC is a purely electric SUV with plenty of space and comfort. Until you accelerate it. Then it becomes a sports car. The full torque is available from a standing start and catapults the EQC forward without a trace. This distinguishes the purely electric drive from any conventional petrol or diesel engine. The result is a completely new, fascinating driving dynamics. The newly developed electric drive unit is so innovative that the new EQC incorporates two of them. An electric motor on both the front and rear axles converts the electrical energy stored in the battery into mechanical energy, generating an output of 300 kW (408 PS). The electric drive trains are designed differently to minimize power consumption and maximize dynamics: The front electric motor is optimized for the weak to medium load range for the best possible efficiency, the rear determines the dynamics. EQC 400 4MATIC:
Power consumption in kWh/100 km (NEDC): 20.8-19.7

Mercedes GLA

Stratmann Mahle

GKN Automotive

The revolutionary SUV technology research vehicle is based on a heavily modified Mercedes-AMG GLA 45, and features both mechanical and electric Twinster systems, showcasing GKN’s leadership in e-drive, AWD and systems integration.

The one-off GKN Technology Demonstrator employs GKN’s eTwinster 2-speed rear axle, incorporating eMotor, two-speed e-transmission and torque vectoring by twin clutches; paired with a mechanical Twinster front axle.

Substantial re-engineering of the standard road car means that the petrol-powered SUV with hang-on AWD ‘torque on demand’ functionality has become a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid with a zero-emissions pure-electric drive mode, and axle-split eAWD functionality that is independent of the combustion engine. Torque vectoring by GKN’s award-winning Twinster system is available on all four wheels, which is a world first.
